The sub-series consists of materials related to Brown’s service on the House Committee on Agriculture, of which Brown was a member from 1973 to 1999, including serving as Chair of the Subcommittee on Department Operations, Research and Foreign Agriculture (DORFA) from 1981-1990. Materials in the sub-series include committee hearing briefings and testimony, research materials, press releases, staff information, committee rules, newsletters, correspondence, memorandums, schedules, and information on agricultural legislation.

Major topics addressed in the sub-series include pesticides and integrated pest management, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, animal welfare issues, farm bills, old-growth forest legislation, and cooperative extension programs.
