Sub-Series Scope and Contents
The sub-series consists of materials related to the Office of Technology Assessment (OTA), a congressional support agency that existed from 1972 to 1995 and provided Congressional members and committees with objective analysis of scientific and technical issues to aid in legislative efforts. Brown was heavily involved in establishing the OTA and served on its Technology Assessment Board, a bipartisan 13 member group of Senators and Members of the House that provided the organization with congressional oversight, beginning in 1975. Materials in the sub-series include assessments, reports, background papers, meeting notes, articles, correspondence, hearings, budget information, project proposals, memorandums, and staffing information.
