Series Scope and Contents

This series consists of files documenting Brown's congressional campaigns, starting with his first successful congressional run in 1962 and continuing through the beginning plans for a possible campaign in 2000 undertaken before Brown's passing. Also included are files on Brown's unsuccessful Senate run in 1970. Materials in the series include campaign plans and strategies, budgets, fundraising efforts, press coverage, debates, opposition research, campaign mailers, polls, schedules, issue briefs and research, information on other campaigns, voter information, and election results.

Series Arrangement

This series is arranged into twenty sub-series organized chronologically by campaign cycle, and alphabetically within each campaign. Materials were arranged into each campaign based on the original order maintained by campaign staff, which sometimes included materials from previous campaigns or documents referring to campaigns after the election. As a result, the dates of materials documenting particular campaigns may vary.
