Binders and books
Scope and Contents
The following box inventory serves as the primary point of access for the Dollens papers until such time as the collection can be processed. This is a rough guide and is not a comprehensive description of what each box contains.
The contents of the boxes are described in general terms. Some further descriptions are as follows:
Binders: these are three-ring binders of a variety of content. Some of these contain art and photographs, some are more topical (sort of like scrapbooks), and some are discrete "bound" volumes.
Art: there are sketchbooks (mostly in box 3), paintings in acrylic(?) on boards (in box 96), and stencils.
Photography: the bulk of the collection is composed of photographic materials. There are large chunks of negatives, 35mm slides, and photo prints. Subjects include landscapes, animals (specifically dogs and cats), posed figures (both nude and clothed), and modified photos that blend art and photography.
Subject files: This is a catch all description for assorted files and folders in the collection. They are either topical (such as artistic themes or specific subject matters) or folders pertaining to a specific person or project (ex: William Lomax).
Clippings: these are primarily magazine clippings with some newspaper clippings. The subject matter is mostly artistic in nature (the art profession and/or generic visual materials).
