Biographical Note
John L. Sperry was born in Rhode Island in 1894, and attended Brown University. He moved to Riverside, California, with his wife Grace H. Sperry in 1925, where she worked as a naturalist and he became one of the leading lepidopterists in the United States. He passed away in 1954 at the age of 60.
