Abstract

Ben Maddow was a screenwriter and documentarian active from the 1930s through the 1970s, born in Passaic, New Jersey and educated at Columbia University. Maddow was involved in left-wing documentary and poetry circles throughout the 1930s. He began his career as a Hollywood screenwriter after serving in World War II, and was blacklisted during the McCarthy era. This collection consists of manuscripts, correspondence, scripts, magazines, photographs, and other artifacts related to Maddow's personal life and professional career.
