Collection Scope and Contents
The collection consists of materials created by Osgood S. Lovekin related to a course, Citriculture 99, offered by the University of California in the summer of 1922. The course consisted of six weeks of field trips and instruction on the citrus industry, traveling throughout California to visit various citrus and fig farms, packing houses, and notably the Citrus Experiment Station that would later become the UC Riverside campus.
Items in the collection include detailed field notes written by Lovekin detailing the daily activities and observations of the students, in both a manuscript and typed format. The field notes are accompanied by photographs placed near the relevant text, along with loose negatives of the photographs taken by Lovekin. Also included is a photocopy of the original label placed by Lovekin on the box housing the materials.
