Historical Note

The Synapsis Club was founded by Herbert J. Webber in the early 20th century as a lecture and discussion group. The club served as a popular scientific forum for almost half a century before it was disbanded in the late 1960s.

This collection contains programs, documents, and other material pertaining to the Synapsis Club at the University of California, Riverside during the mid-20th century. The Synapsis Club was founded by Herbert J. Webber in the early 20th century as a lecture and discussion group, serving as a popular scientific forum for almost half a century.

This collection was acquired as a gift in 1980.

Processing History

This collection was processed by Aleia McDaniel and Celeste Navas, Student Processing Assistants, in 2015.

Processing of the UCR Synapsis Club Collection was completed by undergraduate students from the University of California, Riverside as part of the Special Collections & University Archives Backlog Processing Project started in 2015. This project was funded by the UCR Library and administered by Bergis Jules, University and Political Papers Archivist, and Eric Milenkiewicz, Manuscripts Curator.
