Fujimoto family diaries
This collection consists of the diaries of Japanese Americans Toranosuke (George) Fujimoto from 1913-1968, and George Fujimoto Jr.from 1942-1948. The diaries notably cover their experiences during World War II, when the family was forcibly removed from their Riverside, California home to an incarceration camp in Poston, Arizona.
Japanese American collection
This collection primarily contains transcripts, audio cassettes, and other material pertaining to the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center (JACCC) EO 9066 Project. Also includes material pertaining to Japanese American life in Riverside, California and the Inland Empire.
Reverend Shuichi Thomas Kurai papers
The collection consists of the personal papers of Reverend Shuichi Thomas Kurai (1947-2018), a Zen Buddhist priest who also taught Japanese taiko music classes at UC Riverside for 20 years and was a performer in Southern California. Materials in the collection include photographs, promotional materials, posters, personal papers, and other documents related to Zen Buddhism and taiko performance and teaching.
Morrison Wong papers
The collection consists of interview transcripts and newspaper clippings related to the history of Japanese-Americans in the Inland Empire, particularly in Riverside, during the early half of the 20th century. Also included in the collection are videocassettes related to the Chinatown excavation in Riverside.
