This collection is comprised of more than 68,000 fan magazines, primarily from the 20th century, regarding Science Fiction, Fantasy, Animation, and related genres. It was created by integrating several individual fanzine collections from prominent members of the fan community including the Bruce Pelz and Fred Patten fanzine collections.

This collection contains materials related to the publication and distribution of Dreams and Nightmares, a fantasy and science fiction poetry magazine edited by David C. Kopaska-Merkel. Items in the collection include original page proofs for a number of issues, art and poetry submissions, and correspondence and records related to some distributors of the magazine.

The collection consists of materials related to the comic book Elfquest created by Wendy and Richard Pini in 1978. Items in the collection include articles related to Elfquest, fan art, Elfquest Fan Club materials, and fanzines, most notably a full run of the "Lodestone" newsletter.
