Collection Scope and Contents
The collection consists of correspondence and other materials related to the American author Tom Wolfe, specifically surrounding his involvement with the publication of Carobeth Laird's 1975 book Encounter with an Angry God. Wolfe, who was introduced to the novel by Laird's editor Anne Jennings, took an active role in helping to promote the book, including writing a glowing review of the book for Harper's Bookletter. Items in the collection include correspondence between Wolfe and Jennings regarding the book and Laird, correspondence and drafts related to Wolfe's review of the book, and articles and letters written by Jennings about Laird and Wolfe.

Biographical Note
Anne B. Jennings is a former employee of the Malki Museum, serving as secretary and later as an editor and publicist for the Malki Museum Press, where she edited Carobeth Laird's works, including Encounter with an Angry God. She also was a reporter, writing articles for the Press-Enterprise among other outlets.
