Biographical Note

C.B. (Charles Betts) Waite was an American photographer, born in Akron, Ohio in 1861. Waite moved to Mexico City in 1896, where he opened his first studio on Calle de Rosales. A little later, Waite opened two more studios in San Cosme and San Juan de Letrán, both located in Mexico City.

Waite did a great deal of work as a traveling photographer, and he would travel to remote locations by train, car, horseback, and even on foot. He produced thousands of photographs in his career, which became favorites among the illustrated press, tourists, and collectors.
