Civil War era newspapers collection
The collection consists of eight newspapers published in the United States during the Civil War era. The newspapers, which were published in 1862 and 1863, discuss the ongoing war along with other local news and issues. The majority of the newspapers are issues of the New York Tribune, along with one issue of The Rebel out of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and one issue of The Daily Citizen out of Vicksburg, Mississippi.

The collection consists of correspondence, speeches, essays, articles, reports, printed matter, clippings, photographs, maps, artwork, etc. Compiled chiefly by Wally Anker, President of the Clavey River Preservation Coalition, as a result of the Coalition's and others' opposition to the Clavey River Project, a dam and hydroelectric power plant to be built on the Clavey River in Tuolumne County, California by the Turlock Irrigation District.

Includes correspondence from musician Pete Seeger regarding the song "Nicaragua, Nicaraguita," audio cassettes containing interviews and songs, and photographs/illustrations of individuals from the Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN).
